Job Description
- The essential functions of the Activities Assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Comply with standards of business conduct and adhere to federal, state, and local health and regulatory standards.
- Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Work well with peers, maintain compassion and dignity for residents, and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Be available for call-backs during emergencies, such as severe weather or staffing shortages.
- Follow Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and employment terms.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Provide high-quality care and service to residents and their families.
- Follow all facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Create and implement a weekly activity program tailored to residents' needs and interests, including individual activities for those unable to participate in groups.
- Collaborate daily with the Activity Director to serve residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Oversee daily operations of the Memory Care Neighborhood, including resident ADLs, meals, cleanliness, activity delivery, and documentation.
- Follow state-mandated Assisted Living Facility regulations.
- Participate in delivering Viva Senior Living Memory Care Programming.
- Assist with assessments such as UAIs and ISPs related to Memory Care.
- Attend care plan and family meetings, communicate resident participation, and assist in staff training.
- Guide staff on activity programs and quality of life initiatives.
- Support resident move-in processes and assist in community tours and occupancy efforts.
- Coordinate special events like family nights and open houses.
- Manage volunteer programs, including training and supervision.
- Handle transportation for outings and medical appointments.
- Provide weekend coverage as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, including any tasks within the facility.
- Ensure residents and families receive compassionate, high-quality service, respecting individual needs and rights.
- Report occupational exposures, work-related injuries, and illnesses promptly.
- Complete required training and participate in safety drills and emergency plans.
- Assist with resident evacuation during emergencies.
- Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information and report policy breaches or abuse.
- Report allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or discrimination.
- Report suspicions of crimes to law enforcement and relevant authorities.
Requirements
Activities Assistant
- Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Capable of coping with mental and emotional stress.
- Have adequate vision and hearing (or use prosthetics) to perform job duties.
- Meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical exam.
- Work effectively with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset residents.
- Push, pull, move, and lift at least 25 pounds, and carry such weight for 50 feet.
- Assist in emergency evacuations if necessary.
