Job summary

Providence Seward Mountain Haven-Seward is hiring for a full-time recreation therapy role. Under supervision, the position delivers a health-oriented recreation program for residents in long-term care and swing bed units, both individually and in groups.

The candidate supports diverse residents, adapts activities to abilities, and tracks progress, attendance, and goals, with participation in interdisciplinary care conferences as needed.

Position is full time, 1.0 FTE, variable shift, 40 hours per week. Located onsite at Providence Seward Mountain Haven in Seward AK!

Preferred Qualifications

• + Coursework/Training: Two years of college.
• + 1 year as a health care provider in a health care facility.
• + 6 months as an activity therapy assistant.

Under supervision, provides a total health oriented recreation program in both individual and group settings to include: physical, creative arts, social, orientation, validation, reminiscence, sensory stimulation, living skills, esteem building and intellectual stimulation for residents of LTC and swing bed patients. Adapts groups to the individual needs of residents with varying degrees of physical and mental disabilities. Provides special activities to meet the special needs of the cognitively impaired and the diverse cultural mix of the residents. Under supervision, assesses and sets recreational goals and objectives for residents, evaluates progress or identifies regression, and documents daily attendance. Requires participation in Interdisciplinary Care Conference.
