Birchwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Cranford, NJ seeks an Activities Aide to support residents with engaging programs tailored to their abilities. You will assist with planning, implementing and evaluating recreational activities.
Responsibilities include coordinating outings, scheduling movies, guiding crafts, and ensuring safety during transport and activities. Prior long-term care experience and good communication are preferred.

Helps resident maintain their highest level of functioning by presenting appropriate activity programs according to resident's physical capacity, cognitive ability and interest.
Motivate resident to take an interest in their life and community by investigating alternative methods of activities, resident hobbies, and community interest.
Delivers mail, flowers and other items to residents in timely manner and reads mail to residents upon request.
Prepares for activity program by assuring all supplies are available and room is ready.
Assist in transporting residents to activity program.
Assist resident in craft projects and activity.
Implements activity procedures Assist directed by the Activity Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, escorting residents to and from activity area.
Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties and providing games/activities for residents.
Supervise activities as necessary.
Safety and care of resident during transport.
Safety and care of resident during activities.
Proper chart documentation or resident participation and evaluation.
Activities assessments
Performs other duties as required.
Graduate of an accredited high school or GED preferred.
Previous long-term care experience is desirable.
Responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for a long-term care nursing center in accordance with patient assessment plans and regulatory guidelines.
Assists with documentation of patient assessments and activity attendance records.
