Job summary

IHL Group in New York, NY is seeking an Associate Designer for our Ladies Activewear team. The role owns the design process from concept through pre-production, translating market trends into commercially viable product while collaborating with cross-functional and vendor partners.

Location: New York, NY – Midtown West. Schedule: in-office Monday–Friday. Compensation: base salary range $65,000–$80,000.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of design experience, ideally within activewear, intimates, apparel, sleepwear, or loungewear.
• Advanced proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM/tech pack systems
• Solid understanding of garment/product construction, fit, and grading
• Proven ability to manage a seasonal calendar across multiple deliverables
• Strong trend awareness and a clear personal design point of view
• Comfortable presenting ideas to cross-functional partners and leadership

Responsibilities

• Develop original designs, prints, and colorways for an assigned product segment each season
• Create and manage tech packs and BOMs with minimal supervision
• Present design concepts and trend research in seasonal line reviews
• Manage the sample development calendar for assigned styles, ensuring on-time delivery
• Lead fittings independently, making construction and fit recommendations
• Collaborate with Merchandising on assortment planning and pricing targets
• Build and maintain vendor relationships to support development timelines
• Ensure all designs align with brand aesthetic, cost targets, and delivery windows
