Job summary

Hy-Vee’s Stocker position in the Grocery department is a hands-on, physical role focused on keeping shelves full, organized, and ready for customers. You’ll unload trucks, stock and rotate products, assist shoppers, and support store operations throughout the day.

Able to stand and walk frequently, you’ll work with a team to maintain store cleanliness and assist with various tasks as needed. Training is provided, and no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Up to six months of similar or related work experience preferred.
• You will be trained and supported as you grow in this role.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the store
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team
• Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshness
• Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly
• Organize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged items
• Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers
• Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input
• Operate the register for customer purchases as needed
• Stock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies
• Assist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts
• Help with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroom
• Train new stockers on job duties as needed
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
• You’ll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home, and Service Managers
