Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Active Directory Manager to oversee and lead our Active Directory (AD) operations within a large, multi-forest enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in managing complex AD infrastructures, overseeing a team of IT professionals, and ensuring the security, stability, and efficiency of the directory services across the organization. You will also be responsible for coordinating software upgrades and implementing security remediation initiatives to protect the organization from internal and external threats.

As the Active Directory Manager, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive AD-related projects, ensure optimal performance, and facilitate the continuous improvement of the Active Directory ecosystem. You will be a strategic leader, mentoring your team and contributing to the alignment of AD services with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members; foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of team members to ensure a high level of expertise in AD management and security practices.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support AD-related needs across the organization.

Active Directory Management & Support:

  • Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of a large-scale, multi-forest Active Directory environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Oversee Active Directory administration, including user account management, group policies, trust relationships, domain controllers, DNS, and replication.
  • Manage AD health monitoring and troubleshoot issues related to AD, DNS, replication, authentication, and login services.
  • Ensure scalability and availability of the AD infrastructure to support a growing enterprise environment.

Security & Compliance:

  • Lead efforts to implement and maintain security best practices for Active Directory environments, including access controls, permissions management, and auditing.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee security remediation efforts related to Active Directory, including patch management, vulnerability scanning, and mitigating security risks.
  • Perform regular security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability management activities related to AD infrastructure.

Project Management & Software Upgrades:

  • Plan, manage, and execute upgrades, migrations, and enhancements to the Active Directory infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to implement and test new AD-related software, tools, and technologies.
  • Coordinate software patches, upgrades, and deployment of new technologies in line with the IT strategy.

Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for Active Directory services, aligning with business objectives and future growth plans.
  • Analyze and recommend new technologies, tools, and solutions to improve the efficiency, security, and reliability of AD services.
  • Lead efforts to automate routine AD tasks, improve workflows, and optimize system performance.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to AD infrastructure, policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on the status of Active Directory infrastructure, including performance, security, and budget compliance.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Hands-on experience in Active Directory management, including experience in a large, multi-forest enterprise environment.
    • Proven leadership experience managing teams.
    • Strong expertise in Active Directory design, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Expertise in AD security best practices, vulnerability management, and security remediation.
    • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and their impact on Active Directory management (e.g., NIST, HIPAA).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentoring and employee development.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
    degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
