We are currently seeking a Active Directory Lead-US Citizen to join our team in Washington DC, District of Columbia (US-DC), United States (US).

Position's General Duties and Tasks:

The Active Directory Lead is responsible for providing advanced systems engineering and administration support at Tier 2 through 4 levels to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise services for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role focuses on the design, deployment, and ongoing management of Microsoft Active Directory environments supporting approximately 10,000 users and 10,000 computer objects across multiple government agencies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designingscalable Active Directory architectures, including forests, domains, trusts, and group policies, to meet mission-critical requirements in a no-fail environment.
  • MaintainingActive Directory systems through routine upgrades, patching, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and compliance with security standards.
  • Troubleshootingescalated Active Directory issues, such as authentication failures, replication errors, and permissions conflicts, to restore service rapidly.
  • Monitoringsystem performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing configurations to support 24/7/365 global operations.
  • Collaboratingwith engineering and administration teams to integrate Active Directory with enterprise services like PKI, email systems, and virtualization platforms.
  • Documentingsystem configurations, operational processes, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure continuity and support compliance audits.
  • Advisingon technical enhancements and scalability improvements to strengthen system resilience for a diverse, worldwide user base.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
    • Education Equivalency: One-and-one- half (1.5) years of additional experience can substitute for one (1) year of a typical degree program.
  • Minimum10 years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope, and complexity (e.g., enterprise-level IT systems with 10,000+ users).
  • Certifications: Compliance with DoD 8140 for Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2 (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or equivalent) is required at the time of hiring.
  • Must be a US citizen with an active Top Secret Clearance SCI who is eligble for a higher clearance.
  • Must live a commutable distance to the client site in Washington, DC.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining complex Active Directory forests and domains in a multi-site, high-availability environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications: Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or equivalent) and other professional IT certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP).
  • More than 5 years of experience in systems engineering or administration, particularly with Active Directory in a DoD or government enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with supporting enterprise services such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), configuration management tools, remote application systems, or server virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams supporting mission-critical IT operations on a global scale.
