Job summary

Astrion at Hanscom AFB, MA seeks an Acquisition Strategy and Documentation Principal to support AF intranet programs within AFLCMC/HNI. The role requires Secret clearance, US citizenship, and extensive DoD acquisition experience.

You will shape acquisition strategies, develop RFPs and related documentation, coordinate with IPTs and senior management, and ensure milestones meet cost and schedule constraints in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 20 years of program management experience, 10 of which must be in AF acquisition.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Experience with ACAT I programs and drafting acquisition strategy documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate cyber defense products and DoD/Gov/industry developments.
  • Collaborate with IPT to examine issues and develop corrective actions.
  • Develop acquisition plans and strategies to meet technical requirements within cost/schedule constraints.
  • Support mission execution including operational planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist in evaluations of proposals and review prime contractor deliverables.
  • Stay current on future capabilities and DoD/AF decisions.
  • Support RFP development and acquisition strategy reviews.
  • Prepare briefings and schedules for senior management.

ACQUISITION STRATEGY AND DOCUMENTATION PRINCIPAL

WORK LOCATION: Hanscom AFB, MA

Salary Range: $135 - $150,000 annually*

depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications

JOB STATUS: Full-time; salaried

CLEARANCE: Secret clearance required

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Acquisition Strategy and Documentation Principal to support the Air Force Intranet (AFINC) which is within the C3I and Infrastructure Division (AFLCMC/HNI) and located at Hanscom AFB, MA.

Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must have and be able to maintain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelors degree and 20 years of program management experience, 10 of which must be in AF acquisition
  • Program specific experience:
    • Knowledge of support activities that assist the program manager in assessing what is within schedule and cost baselines, be able to recommend viable solutions to problems, and pursue alternative courses of action.
    • Ability to work proactively, with minimal supervision, and effectively communicate orally and in writing, providing quality acquisition and program documentation (briefings, documents, plans, etc.).
    • Possesses pertinent experience with an ACAT I level program, including formulating, recommending, and drafting the proper acquisition strategy and associated statutory and regulatory ACAT I documentations in a timely and effective manner.
    • Advanced AF program management acquisition knowledge as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures, and practices in their area of expertise.
    • Experience in assisting with strategic level issues and ability to work independently as well as a team member under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
    • Possesses pertinent experience in the development of RFP documentation and support of Acquisition Strategy reviews.
    • Experience working with Technical requirements, implementation plans, test plans
Responsbilities
  • Research the various cyber defense products that are in use by DoD and other Government entities, by commercial organizations, or are in development.
  • Work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure all significant issues are thoroughly examined and evaluated. Help develop corrective actions to address any problem areas.
  • Assist the Program Manager (PM) by developing plans and recommending acquisition strategies that will allow the PMO to meet technical requirements while staying within the cost and schedule constraints.
  • Assist with mission execution to include but not limited to operational planning, operational analysis, capability development, event integration, event execution, analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in technical evaluations of proposals.
  • Review and track prime contractor deliverables status and schedules.
  • Remain current on future capabilities either in development or being considered by DoD, AF, and/or Air Combat Command decision makers (Zero trust for example)
  • Support all Acquisition Strategy reviews, develop supporting documentation, and support the Government in development and review of draft Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and RFP documents.
  • Support program management reviews, senior level meeting/reviews and IMP/IMS reviews.
  • Support and develop various briefings/schedules of program status and acquisition tasks to senior management.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of multi-MAJCOM stakeholders to determine specific needs and requirements and to counsel within the expertise area, to include oversight and task execution utilizing leadership, teamwork, and diplomacy.
  • Generate plans, schedules, and facilitates a variety of exchanges and meetings with the program office team, stakeholders, and industry to understand program requirements and emerging commercial technologies which may address warfighter capability gaps.
  • Assist with strategic level issues and ability to work independently as well as a team member under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
  • Oversee the efforts of junior and mid-level personnel within the technical/professional discipline.
