Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA is seeking a Supervisor/Senior Supervisor in the Acquisition Management Group (AQMG) within the MED Manufacturing Section. The position blends leadership with technical work and requires on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will supervise the work center, manage personnel actions, prepare technical procurement packages, coordinate with suppliers, and ensure on-time, compliant deliveries.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, machine tool technology, manufacturing technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Leadership experience directing, supervising, and assigning tasks to a team or group with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Advanced skills in the technical coordination of complex projects, including project planning, purchasing, budgeting, and workforce planning.
  • Experience with acquisition processes, including programmatic approvals, obtaining bids, awards, receipt, property management, reconciliation, and closeout.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

We have an opening for a Supervisor/Senior Supervisor for the Acquisition Management Group (AQMG). You will play a key role in developing successful careers, fostering a positive working environment, and supporting an outstanding and diverse staff responsible for essential Laboratory missions within the Engineering Directorate and LLNL-wide programs and projects. This position is in the Manufacturing Section of the Materials Engineering Division (MED).

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

This position is structured approximately 50% supervisory and 50% technical. In addition to supervising the Acquisition Management Group, the incumbent will serve as a Subcontract Technical Representative (STR) and Technical Release Representative (TRR), as authorized.

You will

  • Provide direct technical leadership and administrative supervision to the work center team, including personnel actions and the administration of policies and procedures for the work unit.
  • Perform personnel-related functions, including interviewing, selection, training, performance management and ranking, salary management and recommendations, promotions, reclassifications, and corrective actions.
  • Perform or assist staff in preparing technical procurement packages, including technical specifications, statements of work, and quality assurance and inspection requirements.
  • Monitor procurement deliverables and serve as the technical interface between LLNL and suppliers regarding on-time deliverables, milestone reviews, and technical resolutions during processing.
  • Provide advanced coordination support to resolve vendor supply and fabrication problems; obtain authorization for design changes, substitutions, job orders, and other related actions to resolve complex problems and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Solve complex technical, administrative, and procurement-support challenges to process, coordinate, and expedite orders, releases, and requisitions for equipment, repairs, materials, and hardware.
  • Establish or modify guidelines, techniques, and procedures for strategic work center planning, including quality assurance, workflow processes, tool and equipment acquisition, repair and maintenance, workforce management, and budget management.
  • Obtain and maintain applicable procurement certifications and authority to serve as a Technical Release Representative (TRR) and/or Subcontract Technical Representative (STR), as assigned, including completing required training and complying with applicable procurement and subcontract-management requirements.
  • Exercise applicable technical and financial authority in accordance with Laboratory procedures, including management of the AQMG budget.
  • Interface closely with Lab-wide program and project leads, engineers, facility managers, technical contacts, and others; Present and explain technical information and provide advice to management, regulators, reviewers, and stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$137,790 - $204,216 Annually
$137,790 - $168,732 Annually for the 390.1 level
$166,740 - $204,216 Annually for the 390.2 level
