Job Title: Acoustical Ceiling Estimator/Project Manager
This position is responsible for preparing and overseeing timely, accurate, and competitive bids to secure hard bid contracts and negotiated projects, along with project management duties on landed contracts. It offers the opportunity to see projects through from bidding to completion, performing a variety of tasks daily. The role interfaces with both office and site personnel, internal and external, to ensure successful and profitable project delivery.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Motivated individual with a strong work ethic, teamwork skills, and a positive attitude, willing to meet daily construction challenges.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to prioritize workflow and multitask.
- Understanding of commercial construction bidding and contracting processes.
- Ability to read and analyze blueprints for accurate material and labor estimation.
- Effective professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to travel to and navigate construction sites, which may involve stairs/scaffolding.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience with On Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid software.
- Knowledge of drywall products and installation methods.
Key Job Responsibilities - Estimating:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with General Contractors, suppliers, product reps, and customers.
- Prepare accurate takeoffs using estimating software.
- Price labor, materials, and equipment based on historic data, experience, and supplier pricing to create competitive bids.
- Analyze completed projects to update production databases for competitive bidding.
- Stay current on local market conditions.
- Create concise proposals and bid forms.
- Follow up on submitted bids.
Key Job Responsibilities – Project Management:
- Manage contract documents, review RFIs, CPRs, and project changes to capture costs and ensure payment.
- Procure and manage materials to meet project schedules, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Coordinate with Superintendents on schedules and manpower needs.
- Update cost projections and production rates, identify risks, and work to mitigate issues for project profitability.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to identify efficiencies and areas for improvement.
- This role is directly responsible for the successful and profitable delivery of contracts from start to finish.
Required Qualifications:
- Estimating and/or Project Management experience.
