Job summary

Google's Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's computing software platforms across desktop, mobile and applications, as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware.

Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in acoustic design and execution on consumer electronic products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of speakers and mics in new consumer electronic devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional design, engineering, product, operations teams to achieve acoustic solutions balancing ambitious performance, space, cost, and user experience goals.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to scope new components and technologies.
  • Conduct acoustic simulations (lumped sum and finite element methods) and lab testing of acoustic modules and products to validate performance.
  • Support module and product factories to define and guide assembly, test, and failure analysis efforts.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in acoustic design and execution on consumer electronic products.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience leading acoustic design and execution for consumer electronics.
  • Experience leading acoustic solutions for mobile phone, wearable, or hearable products.
  • Experience with acoustic test tools: SoundCheck, Klippel, Audio Precision, Polytec, etc, and simulation tools: Ansys, COMSOL, Abaqus, Ares, etc.
  • Experience shipping end-to-end acoustic solutions, from product concept through production.
