Job Overview

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Acoustic Analyst level 2 or 3 to support the development and ongoing support of world‑class US Navy machinery (turbines, generators, motors, and other system components) based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available. CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret. TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time.

Responsibilities
  • Use classical analysis techniques to establish an understanding of machinery acoustic performance and resolve issues.
  • Develop component and system level predictive/simulation models.
  • Perform modal, vibration, modal, direct frequency response, and sound transmission analyses to predict performance and resolve issues.
  • Gather data from tests and analyze results.
  • Correlate model predictions to test data to validate the approach/model.
  • Work closely with cross‑function internal and customer teams.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications – Level 2
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline with 2 years relevant work experience; or Master's Degree in STEM with no relevant work experience.
  • Experience with simulation software tools: Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, MATLAB (or similar).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in developing system‑level finite element models.
  • Experience in performing classical and finite element analysis solution types.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing large data sets.
Salary and Benefits
  • Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00.
  • Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 – $171,000.00.
  • Eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and possible long‑term incentives for senior positions.
  • Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation and personal business.
