Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Annapolis, Maryland, seeks an Acoustic Analyst level 2 or 3 to support development and ongoing support of world-class US Navy machinery, including turbines, generators and motors.

You will perform classical and finite element analyses, gather data from tests, and correlate results to validate models while working with cross-functional teams. A STEM degree and ability to obtain Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 2 years experience or Master’s Degree with no experience.
• Experience with Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, MATLAB (or similar).
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Use classical analysis techniques to understand machinery acoustic performance and resolve issues.
• Develop component and system-level predictive/simulation models.
• Perform modal, vibration, direct frequency response, and sound transmission analyses to predict performance and resolve issues.
• Gather data from tests and analyze results.
• Correlate model predictions to test data to validate approaches.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings for stakeholders.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Acoustic Analyst level 2 or 3 to support the development and ongoing support of world‑class US Navy machinery (turbines, generators, motors, and other system components based out of Annapolis, Maryland).

What You’ll Get to Do

• Use classical analysis techniques to establish an understanding of machinery acoustic performance and resolve issues.
• Develop a variety of component and system level predictive/simulation models.
• Perform modal, vibration, modal, direct frequency response, and sound transmission analyses to predict performance and resolve issues.
• Gather data from tests and analyze the results.
• Correlate model predictions to test data to validate the approach and model.
• Work closely with cross‑function internal and customer teams.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications – Level 2

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in STEM with no relevant work experience.
• Experience with simulation software tools: Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, MATLAB (or similar).
• Must be a US citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Basic Qualifications – Level 3

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years relevant experience; or Ph.D. in STEM with no relevant work experience.
• Experience with simulation software tools: Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, MATLAB (or similar).
• Must be a US citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in developing system‑level finite element models.
• Experience in performing classical and finite element analysis solution types.
• Experience collecting and analyzing large data sets.

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results.
