The role covers accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close entries in Sage Intacct and is supported by an outsourced accounting and financial services team. This is a hands‑on role for someone who likes clean books, follows up on loose ends, and wants to grow on a small finance team where their work is visible. Your work keeps ACORE's finances accurate and audit‑ready, so our team can focus on uniting the builders, investors, and decision‑makers powering American clean energy.

Accounts Payable
  • Review invoices for documentation and approval. Code them to the correct accounts, departments, and projects, and process payments through Ramp bill pay.
  • Set up and maintain vendor records, including W‑9 collection.

  • Process employee expense reimbursements.
  • Answer vendor and staff questions about payment status.
Accounts Receivable
  • Invoice membership dues and track collections, working with the membership team on past‑due accounts.
  • Record event registration and sponsorship revenue and manage the related receivables.
  • Track grant receivables and prepare draw requests according to grant terms, working with program staff.
  • Record deposits promptly and reconcile Sage Intacct revenue to HubSpot membership and event records each month.
General Ledger and Month-End Close
  • Prepare journal entries under GAAP, including accruals, prepaids, deferred revenue, and allocations.
  • Prepare monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare month‑end close workbooks for review.
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare monthly Shared Services billing from ACORE (c3) to ACORE Action (c4)
Audit, Tax, and Compliance Support
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the annual audit.
  • Compile materials and support for Form 990 and annual 1099 reporting.
  • Follow internal controls, suggest improvements, and document procedures as processes change.
The Must Haves
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and experience applying it to journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and revenue recognition.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (preferred) and 2+ years of experience in accounting, AP/AR, or a similar role.
  • Experience with accounting software (Sage Intacct), online bill pay (Ramp), and CRM systems (HubSpot).
  • Nonprofit accounting experience, including grants and restricted funds, and experience supporting an annual audit, is a plus.
  • High attention to detail, reliable follow-through, and discretion with confidential information.

  • Robust health care options.
  • Generous vacation policy with 15 vacation days in your first year.
  • 11 federal holidays, plus the week between Christmas and New Year's.

  • Hybrid work schedule with three days a week in the office in Washington, DC.
  • 401(k) retirement plan that includes an employer contribution.
