Unit: Solid Oncology / Hospitalist Medicine
Schedule: PRN, As needed basis
Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care for patient population according to established protocols and evidence-based standards in collaboration with the team.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, documenting evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations in electronic medical records.
- Properly identify oneself to patients and families, clarifying the role of Physician Assistant as needed.
- Function within scope and refer to supervising physician when outside scope or as directed.
- Perform interventions specific to assigned patient population and written agreement.
- Participate in quality improvement processes to meet care and service standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism and serve as a role model to peers and the healthcare team.
- Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on patient’s clinical status.
- Address patient and family concerns, providing support and therapeutic relationships.
- Provide education, counseling, and instructions regarding diagnosis, treatments, medications, and preventive care.
- Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
- Participate in precepting PA students and healthcare learners.
- Identify patient/family needs for community resources and refer appropriately.
Credentials and Education
- National Certification for Physician Assistant (Required)
- Physician Assistant licensure (Required)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Preferred)
- Master of Arts or Science (Required)
- Experience: New graduates or < 2.5 years, reviewed and approved by Credentials Committee and Medical Board
