Job Description

The Patient Care Technician 2 role supports and provides direct patient care on the nursing unit. PCTs play an integral role in the physical and emotional comfort of patients and their families. Provides direct patient care and completes other tasks to support patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Candidates must be able to commit to shifts that begin at 8:00pm and end at 8:30am

Essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Measure and document patient vital signs.
  2. Maintain, measure, and document output from drainage systems (urinary, gastric, wound).
  3. Bath, toilet, and groom patients.
  4. Position and turn patients.
  5. Recognize, document, and report physical, behavioral, and mental changes in patients.
  6. Re-stock and maintain unit patient care supplies.
  7. Patient and specimen transport.

Job Requirements:

  1. GED or High School Diploma required for all levels. College credits preferred for Level IV Senior PCT.

Experience:

  1. Level I: 6 months or more direct patient care experience or a graduate of an approved CNA program preferred.
  2. Level II: At least 1 year of healthcare experience providing direct personal care and interaction with patients in an acute care or long-term care setting required.
  3. Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS or American Red Cross BLS) upon hire. When CPR renewal due, American Heart Association BLS is the only certification accepted.
