Job summary

Sylvan-Learning-Center is seeking a part-time Ace it! Tutoring Teacher to provide group instruction at off-site program locations for schoolchildren. The role emphasizes engaging students, managing small groups, and maintaining progress records.

Required are a Food handler certificate, First Aid certificate, and live scan clearance. Availability from 2:15–4:15 pm on at least two weekdays is needed. Training and PR activities may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience engaging schoolchildren in small group settings is preferred.
• Ability to administer and score assessments for students.
• Familiarity with tutoring programs and progress tracking.

Responsibilities

• Administers and scores assessments for each student.
• Teaches students in small class settings using the Ace it tutoring program.
• Maintains student progress records and communicates with parents/guardians.
• Ensures site materials are available and class runs smoothly.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in training as required.

“Ace it!” Tutoring Teacher

LOCATION: “Ace it!” Tutoring Off-Site Program Location

General Summary

Depending on program location, provides group instruction in a private setting to schoolchildren. 8:1 Ratio

Essential Job Functions

• Administers/scores the assessment for each student.
• Ensures class materials are at the site and available for instruction.
• Teaches students in small class settings using the “Ace it!” Tutoring program.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the “Ace it!” Tutoring program.
• Greets students and exhibits a personal interest in them as individuals, and is aware of students' special interests.
• Interacts with students as they work with instructional materials.
• Manages attendance and student progress in Teacher Lesson Manual and “Ace it!” Technology System after each class session.
• Praises and encourages students with sincere enthusiasm.
• Rewards students with tokens, immediately, for any completed assignment. Enters tokens in Token Tracker at the end of instructional hour. Communicates students’ needs to the “Ace it!” Tutoring program manager.
• Keeps management informed of student progress.
• Maintains site order by seeing that all students at the table are supervised and engaged in constructive learning.
• Ensures that students leave the site promptly at the end of instruction.
• Attends monthly staff meetings, as well as initial and ongoing training.
• Attends public relations activities at the site (for example, Teacher party).
• Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrates enthusiasm for the job and for the company.
• Manages student attendance issues with parents and school.
• Maintains each student’s complete record of information in the “Ace it!” Technology System.
• Maintains site order and the professional appearance of the program sites.
• Provides student progress communications to parent/guardian.
• Attends public relations activities, as appropriate.
