Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation and evolution of the ACHA ACHD Accreditation Program.

• Update manuals, agreements, templates, and itineraries annually.
• Collaborate with staff to develop regional development and expansion proposals.
• Maintain accreditation databases and ensure data accuracy and security.

Position Summary

The Accreditation Manager provides guidance to programs pursuing designation as an ACHA ACHD (Adult Congenital Heart Disease) Accredited Center, ensures ACHD Programs continue to maintain accreditation standards, and plays an active role in championing the program and collaborating with the ACHA ACHD Accreditation Committee, ACHA leadership and the ACHA Board of Directors to continue to meet the needs of ACHD patients across the country. This position reports to the Senior Director of Medical Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and expansion of the ACHA ACHD Accreditation Program
• Maintain communication with ACHA ACHD Accredited Centers and the Accreditation Committee, facilitating opportunities for collaboration and discussion on topics pertinent to the program and patient care
• Continuously evaluate accreditation criteria to identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement
• Advise and provide continuous communication to applicants through the entire process, from initial application through achieving accreditation:
  • a.Confirm travel (airfare, train, etc.) and accommodations for all site visitors
  • b.Actively participate in site visits and take detailed notes
  • c.Compile and provide finalized Decision Report to Steering Committee and applicants
  • d.Review documentation addressing deficiencies and provide feedback to site visitor and Steering Committee, if indicated, to determine accreditation designation
• Review and update all ACHA ACHD Accreditation materials on an annual basis:
  • a.User Manual
  • b.Business Associate Agreement and Accreditation Program Agreement
  • c.Timeline and Sample Site Visit Itinerary
  • d.Policy/Procedure Templates
• Develop a process for and complete yearly audits of accredited programs utilizing the ACHA ACHD Clinic Directory:
  • a. Identify information fields that should be added to Clinic Directory for accredited centers to obtain appropriate program information according to criteria maintenance guidelines outlined in User Manual
  • b.Ensure all programs submit updated Clinic Directory listing and save and compile data for review
• Collaborate with additional ACHA staff to identify opportunities for regional development and volunteer engagement. As indicated, develop proposals for program expansion for presentation to ACHA leadership, Board of Directors, Patient & Family Advisory Board and Medical Advisory Board
• In collaboration with Committee Chair(s), develop and maintain accreditation database, which includes but is not limited to:
  • a.Establishing master files for all participating centers
  • b.Ensuring accuracy and completeness of all data
  • c.Protecting integrity of data using proper security controls
  • d.Entering data from accreditation documentation into computer database
• Convey the mission elements of ACHA in all aspects of work
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Qualifications

• Healthcare and/or congenital cardiology knowledge/experience strongly preferred
• Experience in developing, implementing or coordinating a standards-based initiative, such as an accreditation program.
• Experience in database management
• Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Demonstrated ability to oversee and drive programs
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to the mission and values of the Adult Congenital Heart Association
• 10-15% of travel required
• Full-time (40 hours/week), that will be filled either as a fully remote position that can be located anywhere in the continental United States, or a hybrid position at our home office in Columbia, MD. Candidates in either scenario are encouraged to apply.
