I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD) at the George Washington University (GW) offers certificate, master's, and doctoral degrees in a range of academic programs for general and special education teacher preparation, curriculum development, educational administration, counseling, and human and organizational learning. Our students emerge from our programs enriched in theory and practice and become agents of change across the learning lifespan.

GSEHD is currently seeking an outstanding and motivated education professional to direct the administration of accreditation, licensure, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Academic Dean, the Accreditation, Licensure, Continuous Improvement Director will facilitate the strategic leadership, planning for, and reporting of accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement; and also manage program verification and licensure activities.

The Director’s primary responsibility will be to collaboratively support faculty and staff in preparing meaningful assessment plans and reports. The position will provide technical assistance with the GW and GSEHD assessment and accreditation management systems and ensure continuous improvement is the overarching result of all assessment activities. This position will lead the following GW and GSEHD accreditation activities: researching, collaborating, writing, and editing accreditation documents; leading the document management team; and assisting in preparations for onsite, offsite, and electronic accreditation compliance reviews. Additionally, this position will develop risk analyses and follow-up action items for accreditation compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning for Accreditation, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates GSEHD strategic, comprehensive, and ongoing assessment programs, projects, and activities measuring student learning and institutional effectiveness.
  • Partners with faculty and staff to develop assessment plans to monitor progress towards learning outcomes and goals.
  • Coordinates assessment activities for compliance with accreditation standards (CAEP, CACREP, etc.) related to assessment and institutional effectiveness and assists with other college and/or program specialized accreditations.
  • Supports the GSEHD deans with Middle States activities as needed.
  • Provides assessment information to the University leadership to assist with institutional decision-making in alignment with strategic planning. As directed, disseminates findings to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensures proper staging and stakeholder access for all annual and ad hoc reports in accordance with university-supported systems.
  • Conducts routine needs analyses regarding GSEHD data (collection, sharing, reporting, etc.) policies and provides recommendations to senior leadership on where they can be improved.
  • Maintains current knowledge of updates to accreditation policies, practices, and research.
  • Maintains master calendar and accreditation action item list to ensure project management that adheres to deadlines and facilitates collaboration and review.
  • Supports faculty and staff with the advancement of assessment and improvement of student learning (i.e., APA and APR) through effective outreach efforts including consultation, training, mentoring, and resource development.

Accreditation, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement Reporting

  • Writes accreditation-related reports and letters in consultation with the faculty (CAEP Annual Report, Self-Study Reports, USNWR, Title II, OSSE, Honey Nashman, etc.).
  • Designs, creates, and manages datasets.
  • Extracts data from the appropriate accreditation and licensure data management systems.
  • Manipulates data by merging, appending, and sorting datasets.
  • Manages accreditation and assessment systems (Taskstream, SL & L) including ensuring successful transition of systems and integration for systems not connected (Banner and Taskstream).
  • With support from faculty and dean leadership, ensures quality, validity, and usability of data.
  • Notifies School faculty/staff of inconsistencies in reported data and implements solutions to resolve inconsistencies.
  • Collaborates with University’s managers, data collection staff, and IT department to ensure data integrity.
  • Analyzes data for federal or state reporting requirements.

Program Verification and Licensure Activities

  • Manages request and email communication for program verification and licensure application.
  • Liaises with EPP Directors to fulfill verification requests.
  • Serves as proxy signatory for Academic Dean on verification request forms.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

This is a hybrid position with some days in-person in Washington, DC and some days remote.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
