Job summary

Retif Oil & Fuel is seeking a diligent accounting professional to join our finance team in Illinois. The role focuses on daily cash postings, AR reconciliations, and ensuring timely collections to support revenue objectives.

You will collaborate with credit, sales, and operations to resolve payment discrepancies, process EFTs, and maintain accurate records while upholding confidentiality and company values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook; able to learn internal accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Post customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Post revenues by verifying and entering transactions from lock box and local deposits.
• Reconcile credit card settlements.
• Initiate EFT drafts and send customer draft notices.
• Maintain records by microfilming invoices, debits, and credits.
• Daily balancing of prior day’s bank sheet to payments received.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Make daily collection calls to past-due accounts and follow up.
• Collaborate with credit team, sales, and other employees to collect payments.

Protect organization’s values by keeping information confidential

Resolve client-billing problems and reduce accounts receivable delinquency in a professional and timely manner

Make daily collection calls to negotiate with past due accounts, and sent follow-up inquiries

Work with the credit team, sale people, and other employees to ensure every effort is made to receive payment and maintain amicable customer relations

Monitor assigned accounts

Research delinquent accounts using all possible resources

Requirements

The best candidate will have the following qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field preferred
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn internal accounting software

Additionally, while performing duties, you may be required to sit, stoop, lift up to 15 pounds, type, communicate effectively, manage conflict, work evenings and/or weekends, attend remote meetings, and travel.
