City of Wilson is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support the City's AR function. The role handles billing, collections, and miscellaneous invoices for non-utility transactions, while ensuring timely cash flow and accurate financial statements.

The position requires an associate degree in accounting or related field and 1–3 years of AR experience, with GAAP knowledge and strong clerical skills. Office-based role with standard hours and opportunities for process improvement.

Qualificações

• Associate's degree in accounting or related field.
• 1–3 years' experience in accounts receivable.
• Consistent good attendance and timely arrival history.

Responsabilidades

• Process and manage all miscellaneous (non-utility) accounts receivable transactions, including billing and collection functions.
• Generate miscellaneous invoices for non-utility transactions (damages, rentals, tickets, violations, inspections, licenses).
• Monitor aged AR balances and collections; manage payment plans and write-offs when needed.
• Respond to AR inquiries from internal/external customers.
• Adjust utility balances for returned items (NSF items, chargebacks, etc.).
• Process assessment searches to determine money owed to the City on properties.
• Process monthly retiree bank drafts for insurance premiums.
• Reconcile AR subsidiary ledger with General Ledger monthly; troubleshoot outages.
• Coordinate with Lease Reporting to document billing information for lessor agreements.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and year-end journal entries.
• Prepare internal reports on AR and collections; assist in external audit data gathering.
• Develop spreadsheets for data collection/analysis; participate in trainings and process improvement.
