Accounts Receivable Clerk - Remote in MN or WI

As an Accounts Receivable Clerk, you will play a key role in ensuring a quality experience that benefits our patients’ financial well-being. You will support the Accounts Receivable team by performing various activities, completing required training, and demonstrating proficiency to continue in the role.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), remote position based out of MN or WI. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary based on business needs. If you are located in MN or WI, you will have the flexibility to work remotely while tackling challenging tasks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Contact payers via phone, fax, email, or letter to resolve credit balances and coordinate benefits
  • Interpret complex contractual language for special projects in accordance with agreements and regulations
  • Build effective relationships within the team to facilitate account resolution
  • Verify payments align with contractual and governmental reimbursement standards
  • Stay current on regulatory and contractual requirements through self-studies and updates
  • Maintain contractual knowledge across multiple payer groups to maximize reimbursements
  • Foster positive relationships with patients, insurance companies, and payers to resolve credit balances
  • Guide and support less experienced team members
  • Prioritize accounts based on reports and resolve high-value or aged accounts
  • Handle billing, collections, customer service, and reimbursement inquiries
  • Research and process refund requests from insurance companies
  • Identify recurring issues, escalate complex cases, and contribute to process improvements
  • Meet or exceed productivity and audit standards as per department policies
Required Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in insurance billing and patient or third-party billing
  • At least 2 years of auditing experience
  • Proficiency with Windows PC applications and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Effective communication skills using Outlook and Teams
  • Residing in Minnesota or Wisconsin
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in fast-paced environments requiring multitasking and problem-solving
  • Experience with patient billing systems
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Adherence to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy for remote workers

The hourly pay range is $16.88 to $33.22, based on factors like location, experience, and certifications. We offer comprehensive benefits, incentive programs, stock options, and a 401(k).
