Frontier Railroad Services, LLC is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team. The role focuses on processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and supporting day-to-day AP needs for a railroad construction company. Construction industry experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate will handle weekly check runs, maintain vendor records, and assist with month-end close and 1099 reporting, while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• At least two years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred.
• Construction, contracting, railroad, or similar industry experience is a plus.
• Experience with purchase orders and high-volume invoice processing preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and accounting or ERP software.

Responsibilities

• Review and enter vendor invoices accurately and promptly.
• Match invoices with purchase orders, receipts, and other supporting documentation.
• Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve issues.
• Maintain current W-9 forms and vendor documentation.
• Set up and maintain vendor records.
• Review and process employee expense reports and company credit card transactions.
• Maintain organized electronic accounts payable records.
• Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices and payment status.
• Assist with month-end closing, reconciliations, accruals, and audits.
• Assist with 1099 preparation and reporting.
• Identify duplicate invoices and billing errors.
