Job summary

Salter Construction seeks an Accounts Payable Manager to oversee payables, payroll, and related financial operations. Reports to CFO and leads AP Accountants, ensuring timely, accurate payments and efficient processes.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven with leadership and analytical skills; construction industry experience is a plus. This is a full-time on-site role based in Conway, AR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Construction industry experience is a plus.

Role Description: Accounts Payable Manager
Reports To: CFO
Status: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Accounts Payable Manager oversees all aspects of the company’s payables, payroll, and related financial operations. This role is responsible for managing and training the Accounts Payable (AP) Accountants, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, and maintaining efficient accounting processes. The Accounts Payable Manager also supports the CFO through financial reporting and serves as the backup for the Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven, with strong leadership and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership & Management:
   
   
   
   • Train, supervise, and evaluate Accounts Payable Accountants.
   
   
   • Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable team environment.
   
   
   • Serve as the primary backup for the Senior Accountant.
   
   
   • Oversee payroll completion and accuracy for SCI Employees
   
   
   
   


2. Accounts Payable Operations:
   
   
   
   • Lead Payable Report Meetings every Thursday and on the 10th and 15th of each month.
   
   
   • Review and approve all payable invoices and related documentation.
   
   
   • Cut checks for subcontractors and suppliers in accordance with SCI policies and schedules.
   
   
   • Reconcile company credit card statements.
   
   
   
   


3. Financial Reporting & Oversight:
   
   
   
   • Enter project budgets into company software.
   
   
   • Review all change orders for accuracy and proper documentation.
   
   
   • Track and allocate equipment and fuel expenses appropriately.
   
   
   • Monitor Builder’s Risk Insurance and ensure coverage accuracy.
   
   
   • Maintain Work in Progress (WIP) reporting for the CFO.
   
   
   • Review and recommend software and process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation.
   
   
   
   


4. Meetings & Collaboration:

• Attend weekly Staff Meetings on Wednesday mornings.


• Attend at least one weekly Buyout Meeting per month.


• Participate in Departmental Level 10 Meetings.


• Attend monthly Project Review Meetings to assist alternating AP Accountants.

1. Process Compliance & Professionalism:

• Ensure adherence to all SCI company processes, policies, and accounting standards.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.


• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting.


• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.


• Construction industry experience is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong organizational and leadership skills.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.


• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
