Job summary

Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, seeks an Accounting Technician III to support travel, credit card, and reimbursement functions. You will process AP transactions, travel advances, employee expense reimbursements, and accounts payable payment requests while maintaining SOPs and providing staff training to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will perform complex reconciliations, vouching, and journal entries, research issues, and assist in developing AP procedures.

Qualifications

  • Three years of accounting and/or bookkeeping experience or one year as Accounting Technician II (or equivalent).
  • Experience leading others and training staff.
  • Experience creating reports in Excel and performing lookups.
  • Ability to resolve complex reconciliation issues and maintain procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and train AP Technicians; oversee accounts payable processes.
  • Process AP transactions, travel advances, reimbursements, and credit card purchases.
  • Prepare and audit journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Develop and update AP SOPs and provide guidance to staff.
  • Create reports in Excel and ensure IRS and city regulations compliance.
