What you will be doing

The Accounting Technician 1 assists in maintaining provider records, setting up vendors/providers, and ensuring foster care, childcare, adoption, and out-of-state providers are paid in a timely and accurate manner. To be a resource for the field workers and care providers to ensure that payment regulations and departmental policy are properly utilized in making payments. This position further focuses on auditing provider accounts to determine when overpayments have occurred, providing written notification to providers regarding the overpayments, and then working with them to determine most appropriate method of collection.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:

Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
