We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Technician to join our team. This position will work in a collaborative environment alongside three team members and will be responsible for the management and oversight of a diverse financial portfolio, including general accounts, trust fund accounts, and professorship accounts.
This role serves as a key point of contact for financial inquiries and provides support in resolving accounting issues for management and principal investigators. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical abilities, critical thinking skills, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a portfolio of accounts, including general accounts, trust funds, and professorship accounts
- Maintain accounting records of moderate to considerable complexity with a high degree of accuracy
- Reconcile monthly statements from various accounting systems and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and generate financial reports for administrative managers and faculty
- Serve as the primary contact for financial inquiries from management and principal investigators
- Research and resolve financial discrepancies and accounting issues
- Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Interpret and apply relevant financial policies, procedures, and regulations
- Assist with audits and special projects as assigned
- Contribute to process improvements and internal controls
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office software
Preferred:
- Prior internship or entry-level accounting experience
- Experience working with financial or enterprise accounting systems
- Experience in higher education or research-related accounting environments
