Job description

This position is located within the Fiscal Service office supporting accounting operations for the Overton Brooks Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, you must meet the following:

Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the federal service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of an Accounting Technician. For this Accounting Technician, GS-6 position: Possess one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Accounting Technician position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: performing accounting principles, methods, procedures and techniques; validating transactions; examining accounts to analyze and detect trends and; problems; using various accounting system software package applications and computer systems to resolve problems of processed transactions; and using spreadsheets. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Demands:

Work is primarily sedentary. Work is performed in an office setting, either in separate office, shared office space or at home (virtual/telework available as deemed appropriate).
