Job summary

The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) in Camarillo, CA is seeking an Accounting Technician to join its Finance team in a full-time, temporary-to-permanent role.

You will support essential financial operations including AP/AR, payroll support, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and financial recordkeeping, directly reporting to the Finance Director. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, reliable, and proficient with Microsoft Office/Excel.

Qualifications

• Three to four years of accounting experience preferred.
• Degree in accounting/finance or related field preferred; combination of coursework and experience considered.
• Strong math, accuracy, and ability to work independently within procedures.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Provide payroll support as needed.
• Perform reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
• Assist with reporting and financial recordkeeping.
• Support Finance Director and accounting staff as required.
• Maintain accuracy and confidentiality in financial data.

The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Technician to join its Finance team. This is a full-time temporary-to-permanent opportunity that will transition to a permanent position.

The Accounting Technician supports essential financial operations through accounts payable and receivable, payroll support, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and financial recordkeeping. Reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with the Accounting Manager and Senior Accountants, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful public transportation services throughout Ventura County.

The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, dependable, and comfortable working independently within established procedures. Strong attention to detail, math skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel, confidentiality, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

Three to four years of experience performing similar accounting functions and knowledge of accounting principles are preferred. An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred; a combination of college-level accounting coursework and relevant experience will be considered.
