With this being my first official full-time job with benefits, it has really transformed my outlook on personal growth, and my life has changed significantly. Position Summary

This role involves overseeing key functions within the City’s Finance Department, including supervising billing and revenue collection activities and managing payroll operations. The position provides leadership to support staff, ensures compliance with applicable laws and procedures, and contributes to the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of financial processes. The Accounting Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards of customer service and operational accountability. Work is performed under the guidance of the Finance Director.

Job Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, assigns, schedules, and directs the work of billing/collection clerks and the Payroll and Accounting Specialist. Supervises payroll and occupational license processes. Coaches and counsels staff, addresses work-related problems, and develops solutions.
• Reviews and evaluates staff performance against standards, determines training needs, and recommends personnel actions such as disciplinary measures, discharge, or merit increases.
• Trains staff on work principles, policies, and procedures to improve productivity and standards.
• Responds to inquiries from the public regarding procedures, tax laws, and programs; resolves customer service issues and provides information as needed.
• Establishes and reviews cash handling procedures for compliance with city and county policies.
• Verifies collections, manages deposits, balances petty cash, and prepares change orders.
• Prepares weekly tax distributions for county collections.
• Prepares and submits W2s and 1095-C forms.
• Types personnel action forms and other documents.
• Manages records for archives and records management.
• Prepares ad hoc payroll or collection reports upon request.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
• Three to five years of supervisory experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Familiarity with payroll functions, including tax deposits and government reports.
• Working knowledge of Excel.
• Must pass background and reference checks.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, phones, fax machines, calculators, and printers.
• Requires coordination of eyes, hands, feet, and limbs for tasks like typing.
• Light physical effort may be required, including lifting and carrying objects weighing five to ten pounds.
• Extended periods at a keyboard or workstation are typical.
• Ability to distinguish similarities or differences in shapes and sounds related to job tasks.

Work is usually performed in an office setting with minimal risk of injury. The position offers remote work one day per week with approval.
