Job summary

New Millennium, a subsidiary of Steel Dynamics, Inc., seeks an experienced accounting leader to supervise the accounting staff and manage daily operations. You will work closely with the Controller on month-end close, payroll, audits, and special projects while maintaining internal controls.

The ideal candidate holds a 4-year accounting/finance degree with at least 2 years of accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and a willingness to travel as needed. CPA or CMA is a plus.

Qualifications

• 4-year Accounting or Finance degree required; minimum 2 years accounting experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• Financial reporting experience; deadline-oriented; willing to travel to other locations when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various journal entries.
• Perform month end inventory counts and reconciliations.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare month end reports.
• Prepare sales & use tax returns.
• Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
• Guide accounting staff activities and answer questions.
• Assist corporate with division-wide accounting tasks.
• Assist with process improvements and special projects.
• Safeguard employee, company, and customer confidential information.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and SDI Policies.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education.

Overview

This position will oversee our accounting department’s daily operations and work closely with the Controller to manage financial functions. Tasks include supervision of accounting personnel, performing month end close and assisting management with various projects payroll, and audits. Verify accuracy and completeness of accounting activities by performing various tasks including (but not limited to) the following:

Qualifications

Preferred

• Licensed CPA, or eligible to sit for the CPA exam
