Downtown Chicago, IL (Hybrid Schedule)

A dynamic and growing diversified manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to join its high-performing finance team in downtown Chicago. This is a hybrid role offering the best of both worlds—collaborative in-office culture with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week.

In this key position, you’ll lead core accounting functions, support monthly close, and serve as a go-to resource for technical accounting guidance. The ideal candidate brings Big 4 or public accounting experience, a CPA, and the leadership mindset to help scale and strengthen a complex, multi-entity business.

What You’ll Do:

• Supervise day-to-day general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
• Lead components of the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Support financial statement preparation and internal/external audit processes.
• Provide technical accounting expertise and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Review and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Mentor junior accountants and contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused team environment.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including operations and FP&A, to support business growth and financial accuracy.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
• 4–7 years of total accounting experience, with a foundation in Big 4 or public accounting.
• Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors preferred.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
• Proven ability to lead projects and junior staff, while managing multiple priorities.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
