Job summary

California Waste Solutions in Oakland, CA is seeking an Accounting Specialist to own full-cycle accounts payable and support accounts receivable in a close-knit finance team.

You will ensure accurate, timely postings, generate AP/AR reports, and assist with annual year-end processes. Proficiency in QuickBooks Pro and MS Office is required, with NetSuite experience a plus and immediate Bay Area availability preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of directly related accounting experience.
• Familiarity with standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
• Ability to work in a small, collaborative team environment.
• Proactively manage and consistently meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Manage and process AP/AR inputs and payments/receipts.
• Analyze and generate AP/AR financial reports and related documents.
• Communicate with counterparties on transactional postings.
• Prepare various accounting statements and financial reports.
• Issue W-9s and 1099s following year-end.
• Develop and maintain files and archives.

Relies on past experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity expected and limited latitude allowed.
