Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to play a key role in managing daily accounts payable and receivable operations, while also contributing to general ledger accuracy and month-end close activities. This position is essential to maintaining precise financial records and ensuring efficient internal workflows. The ideal candidate will also provide support in training and mentoring junior accounting staff, helping to foster a collaborative and high-performing finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable processes, including vendor invoicing, employee reimbursements and credit card reconciliation
  • Oversee accounts receivable tasks such as customer invoicing, cash application, and monitoring aging reports
  • Accurately allocate transactions to appropriate general ledger accounts and support month-end close procedures
  • Assist with payroll reporting and preparation for year-end audits
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date financial records for internal use and external reporting
  • Support and guide junior or clerical accounting staff as needed
  • Contribute to additional accounting and administrative tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable or general accounting.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, financial reporting and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks or NetSuite
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and written/verbal communication abilities
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Hybrid: 3 days onsite; 2 days remote

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Coursework in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred.

Work Location

  • Hybrid schedule based out of Troy, Michigan or Arlington, Virigina
  • $55,000-75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
