Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent experience required.
  • 15+ years’ experience in multi-industry construction required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • QuickBooks Desktop experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage biweekly payroll using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee the accounts payable process including bill verification and timely payments.

Overview

LHH has partnered with an Engineering firm in Dallas, TX who is seeking a Part-Time Accounting Specialist for 20-25 hours per week. This is a hybrid, long term contract opportunity that will interview and start immediately. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll processing, accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations and invoicing. If this role is in line with your background, apply now!!

Primary responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Manage biweekly payroll using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Includes verifying that hours are classified appropriately, whether billable or non-billable.

  • Accounts Payable: Oversee the accounts payable process, including bill verification, data entry, approval workflow, weekly reporting, and timely payments to vendors.

  • Accounts Receivable: Manage accounts receivable functions, including assisting Accounting Support staff with invoicing clients, recording payments, weekly reporting, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances.

  • Record Keeping: Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.

  • Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts for review by the Controller.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to support financial operations and resolve discrepancies as they arise.

  • Compliance: Ensure all accounting processes comply with industry standards and regulations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or commiserate experience required.

  • 15+ years’ experience in multi-industry (civil, commercial, transportation, SWP3) construction required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and cost estimating software.

  • QuickBooks Desktop- required
