Job summary

Valley Metro RPTA seeks an experienced accounting leader to manage complex programs, provide advanced financial analysis, and ensure accurate reporting while enforcing internal controls. The role supports improvement of processes and internal systems, including bank management tasks.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with supervisory responsibilities preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Five years of progressive accounting experience including government or general accounting.
• Experience in auditing coordination, grants/compliance, capital assets, and AP/AR.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily accounting program activities to ensure accurate timely work.
• Review, analyze, and process complex accounting transactions; prepare journals and reconciliations.
• Coordinate general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, month-/year-end close.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports, schedules, and supporting docs; identify variances and risks.
• Develop and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial systems.
• Provide guidance and training to staff, auditors, vendors; coordinate audit documentation.
