Job summary

Security Benefit seeks an experienced Accounting Policy Director to create and maintain policies aligned with US GAAP and SAP. The role drives AI-enabled workflows, research, and knowledge management, advancing the department with automation and structured documentation.

The position reports to the Assistant VP, Head of Accounting Policy and can be based in Overland Park, KS or Des Moines, IA. It offers a hybrid schedule with remote and on-site flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA required, Big 4 experience preferred.
• 8–10 years progressive investments or insurance industry experience with technical accounting experience.
• Expertise in US GAAP and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain accounting policies that comply with US GAAP and SAP.
• Develop AI-enabled tools to accelerate research, documentation, and knowledge management.
• Monitor FASB/NAIC pronouncements and assess impact on the company.
• Lead automation projects across regulatory tracking and memo drafting.
• Develop reporting and regulatory tracking tools for GAAP, SAP, and NAIC changes.
• Advise on accounting ramifications for complex transactions; collaborate with stakeholders.
• Lead special projects and promote responsible AI adoption within accounting.
