Job summary

The Georgia Department of Education is seeking an Assistant Director of Accounting to oversee daily financial operations, including cash flow, revenue, AP, and AR. The role supports the Director of Accounting in division management and ensures adherence to GAAP and governmental standards.

Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in government accounting, Workday proficiency, and excellent communication skills. Bachelor's in accounting and five years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting with five years of professional accounting experience, including three in a supervisory role.
• Experience with Workday software and government accounting standards preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger reconciliations, AP/AR, journal entries, and SAO processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Finance and Business Operations accounting processes including Cash, Revenue, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
• Assist the Director of Accounting with division management, financial reporting, accounting policies and procedures, and GAAP compliance.
• Collaborate with agency leadership and state/federal partners on special projects and reporting requirements.
