Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking an Accounting Officer (Tax Advisor) to join our team. Qualified candidate may work in the Mechanicsburg or Chambersburg, PA branch locations. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Accounting Officers (Tax Advisors) will provide services to accounting, record, and income tax return customers with a high level of quality, accuracy, and efficiency. In addition, the position will be involved with promoting related Farm Credit services, aiding in business development efforts, and participating in public relations activities. Accounting Officers (Tax Advisors) will operate under the general supervision of an Accounting Services Manager.
Maintains and builds strong customer relationships, gaining a thorough understanding of their business and business goals. Serves as a trusted partner for customers, advising on sound accounting, financial management, and tax best practices. Gathers complete and accurate financial data to prepare tax returns, financial reports, records and payroll services. Understands federal and state tax regulations, staying up to date on changes. Collaborates with Farm Credit teammates to develop new business, as well as expanding the relationships of existing customers. Actively participates in educational programs for customers and prospects. Participates in both departmental and regional team meetings, providing insight on any pertinent updates or information that helps the team better service customers. Must obtain and maintain Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).
Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certifications preferred.
