Job summary

Landing Point, a leading financial institution, seeks an Accounting Officer to join its Control & Support department in New York. The role focuses on preparing financial reports and ensuring regulatory compliance, with responsibility for daily-to-year-end close processes and BSA/AML policy adherence.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in accounting/finance and 1–3 years banking experience, plus proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Oracle FlexCube.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in accounting, business, or finance.
• 1-3 years of banking experience.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Oracle FlexCube.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and compliance-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and issue daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for branch senior management and Head Office.
• Reconcile daily the NOSTRO accounts (Dollar and Foreign Currency) between the branch and correspondents, expense/official checks, and the monthly payroll account.
• Prepare and input General Ledger entries for correspondent domestic bank-related charges, overdraft, and reconcilement differences.
• Prepare and input prepaid and accrued expense GL entries to the equation and perform monthly proof.
• Produce Daily Foreign Exchange Profit/Loss reports using FX position revaluation and traders’ reports.
• Ensure proper accounting of expenses and income, fixed assets, depreciation, etc., and reconcile all Other Assets/Liabilities and Suspense Accounts.
• Process Accounts Payable payments via check or ACH, ensuring they are made before the due date without discrepancies.
• Perform end-of-day/month-end/quarter-end/year-end tasks as required.
• Function as backup to the Accounting and Reporting Manager when required.
• Understand and comply with the BSA/AML Program, including Customer Identification and Customer Due Diligence Policy.
