Job summary

CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) is seeking a Manager/Director – Accounting Methods to join the Federal Tax Strategies team in Tempe, AZ. The role focuses on tax strategies involving timing and character of income, expense, capitalization, and cost recovery, including Form 3115 filings.

You will lead accounting methods projects, research complex tax issues, and collaborate with senior leaders while mentoring staff to deliver high-quality client work and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA required (Juris Doctorate or Enrolled Agent may be accepted in lieu of CPA).
• 6 years of experience in a large professional services or public accounting firm, driving strategic management required.

Responsibilities

• Consult on accounting methods-related issues including automatic and non-automatic accounting methods changes.
• Display solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to evaluate and articulate complex information.
• Conduct research related to accounting methods tax issues to maintain and expand knowledge base.
• Participate and collaborate in accounting methods projects, including client interviews and calculating analyses.
• Assist with researching and drafting method changes and IRS correspondence.
• Collaborate with managers, directors and principals across the Firm.
• Coach or mentor staff to develop skills and careers.
• Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously in a reliable manner.
