Zero Impact Energy in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide financial insights to support strategic decisions for the group.

The role leads a team of accountants, manages AP/AR and bookkeeping priorities, ensures timely close and reporting, supports audits, and drives process improvements. CPA preferred; strong Excel skills and GAAP knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in accounting.
• Experience navigating complex technical accounting matters is a must.
• Prior experience managing general ledger and accrual accounting.
• CPA license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional growth.

• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in managing the financial activities of the organization, overseeing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making for the group.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and develop a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional growth.
• Manage AP, AR and bookkeeping priorities for the team.
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Ensure the year-end audit is clean and timely.
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed in a timely manner.
• Support the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities
• Supports budget and forecasting activities.
• Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
• Responds to inquiries from the CEO, Dr. of Finance, and other finance and company managers regarding financial results, and special reporting requests.
• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy as well as assisting in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
• Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
• Support management with special projects and workflow process improvements.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in accounting
• Construction or manufacturing accounting experience preferred
• Experience in navigating through complex technical accounting matters is a must.
• Prior experience managing general ledger and accrual accounting
• Current CPA license preferred

Requirements:

• Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced workplace.
• Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and general AI tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and organization skills.
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills required.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines required
• Strong knowledge of federal and state laws required
• Strong understanding of GAAP and tax law required
• Strong work ethic and confidentiality skills required

Job Type: Full-time, Salary Exempt

Pay: $80,000.00 - 90,000.00 DOE. In determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.

Schedule: 8-hour shift Mondays - Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
