JOB HIGHLIGHT

You’ll be reinforcing the integrity of our accounting policies and financial compliance by employing your world-class accounting acumen.

JOB SUMMARY

As Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in the Finance Department consistently ensuring the sustainable growth of our Accounting team and process transformations. You will own various workflows within the accounting and financial reporting process. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll exemplify a hard-working, demonstrated leader who excels in managing workflows and can exceed goals in a fast-paced environment. You’ll support the Finance team in finding solutions to complex problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • On a monthly basis, reviewing and approving journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the accounting team including complex areas such as investments; and investigating discrepancies and communicating issues as they arise in a timely manner
  • Partnering with Revenue Operations and working cross-functionally with departments to ensure Revenue, including Pledges, are recorded in compliance with GAAP
  • Assisting in the timely management of the month-end consolidated financial close process by keeping team priorities on track and assisting staff
  • Continually developing, expanding, and improving month-end close and financial reporting procedures and timelines
  • Reviewing, approving, and or processing financial transactions as needed
  • Researching and supporting the VP, Controller in the implementation of new accounting standards
  • As the organization continues to evolve and grow, assisting in the creation of new processes and implementation of new systems and simplifying existing processes
  • Supporting the management of the year-end consolidated financial statement audit, tax return preparation, and regulatory filings
  • Ensuring the timely annual filing of state fundraising registrations
  • In partnership with our VP, Controller, supporting the management of special projects, general ledger implementation, internal controls, and ad hoc analyses
  • Supervising and mentoring accounting and senior accounting associates
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of professional experience in accounting
  • 2+ years of successfully managing a high performing and detail-oriented team and proven ability to manage and develop the careers of direct reports
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization and manage relationships with external parties
  • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Proven agility required to work thoughtfully in a fast-paced start-up environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Public Accounting experience
  • Current CPA designation or equivalent
  • Experience working with expense management platforms like Concur and ERPs like NetSuite
  • Understanding of non-profit operations
