Job summary

City of Des Peres is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, cash receipting, and general ledger maintenance.

You will assist the Director of Finance with audits, budgeting, internal controls, and month- and year-end closings; supervise two accountants and coordinate with departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 3 years financial management experience, with supervision preferred.
• Experience in government accounting a plus.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise accounting staff responsible for payroll, accounts payable, cash receipting, and general ledger maintenance.
• Oversee payroll processes and reconcile payroll tax reports with timely filings.
• Review daily financial transactions and ensure ledger accuracy; resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and enforce internal controls, and assist with fixed assets, capitalization and depreciation.
• Assist with month-end/year-end close and preparation of financial statements and audit materials.
• Coordinate budget preparation and assist with annual audits; attend finance committee meetings.
