Job summary

UW Credit Union in Madison is seeking an Accounting Manager I to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and strengthen internal controls. You will lead reconciliations, journal entries, and close activities, while partnering with other departments to resolve issues and support accurate financial reporting.

As a people leader, you will coach staff, promote collaboration, and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• 6-7 years of accounting experience; supervisory/leadership preferred.
• Experience in financial institutions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Review journal entries and reconcile high‑risk general ledger accounts.
• Coordinate month-end close and financial reporting.
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Provide staff coaching and leadership.
• Assist with regulatory filings and audits.
