Job summary

FinanceWithin is seeking an Accounting Manager in New York to lead month-end close, prepare financial statements, and serve as a consulting partner to client operations. You will rely on expertise in QBO and Xero, with advanced Excel skills and strong business acumen to drive accuracy and insights.

As a core member of the team, you will oversee accounting cycles for multiple client engagements, manage AR/AP, payroll, and internal controls, and contribute to financial planning and decision

Qualifications

• 6+ years of full cycle accounting experience.
• 2+ years in a multi-client or consulting role.
• Advanced in QuickBooks Online and Xero.
• Experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, PayPal, Bill.com) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end closing and related financial reporting for clients.
• Manage cash flow projections and client communications on cash positions.
• Create and reconcile financial packages, including margins, AR/AP, and journal entries.
• Handle bank and card reconciliations and other payment accounts.
• Support with budgets, audits, and financial analysis.

About The Role

As an Accounting Manager, you will manage the month‑end close process and work as a consultant with FinanceWithin clients. You will help assemble a monthly financial packet and present financial statements to clients.

Successful candidates have a strong experience in QBO and Xero. Ideal candidates are also advanced in Excel and have a strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

This role is solutions-oriented and requires proactive engagement to ensure client success.

• Oversee month‑end closing and all key accounting-related activities for clients - accurate and timely circulation of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets
• Cash Flow projection (and updates) and communicating cash position to clients
• Financial Package Creation: Ensuring proper margin recognition, Reconciling/Recording transactions (Sales, Deferrals, Accruals, Returns, Discounts, Write-offs), Monitoring Sales Orders (wholesale), etc.
• Inventory Management including: Good understanding of Inventory, Reconciling inventory (Physical, Sub to GL), Accruals, Samples, Inventory adjustments, Obsolescence, Monitor POs, etc.
• Reconciliation of bank and credit card statements
• Reconciliation of other payment accounts (e.g. PayPal, Stripe, etc)
• Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and thorough understanding of amortization schedules
• Manage Accounts Receivable and Payables
• Manage AR aging reports for clients
• Manage AP in Bill.com (or related software) for clients
• Payroll management for clients
• Work with FinanceWithin management to support the team
• Support as a consultant to clients on accounting related work
• General ledger accountability, financial analysis, financial reporting, and special reports, financial profitability analysis, other special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in full cycle accounting
• 2+ years of experience in a multi-client or consulting role
• Advanced in QBO and Xero
• Experience with e-commerce is a big plus (Shopify, PayPal, Bill.com,etc)
• Firm grasp of accounting principles
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
