Job summary

Performance Academies is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the finance team at our Central Support Office in Columbus, OH. You will oversee general ledger, vendor relations, and accounts management while ensuring GAAP compliance and timely financial reporting.

You’ll supervise accounting staff, develop budgets and forecasts, and coordinate audits. The ideal candidate has a CPA (preferred), 5+ years in accounting with at least 2 years in management, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial/supervisor role. Big 4 experience is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Proficiency in multiple accounting software, particularly QuickBooks, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger with accurate transaction classification.
• Vendor Management: Ensure vendor records and payments comply with cash disbursement policies.
• Accounts Management: Manage asset, liability and equity accounts incl. cash, prepaid, accrual, lease, A/P and A/R.

What You’ll Do

• General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate classification of transactions
• Vendor Management: Ensure records, accounts and payments related to vendors are all accurate with cash disbursement policies properly adhered to
• Accounts Management: Perform or supervise asset, liability and equity account processes, including cash, prepaid, accrual, lease, accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate accounting
• Accounting System: Become expert on all processes and systems including accounting software with capability to transition books to new software
• Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Audit Coordination: Ensure books are prepared for multiple audits and serve as a point of contact during financial audit
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting
• Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in multiple accounting software, and particularly Quickbooks, strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
