Job summary

Amazon in Austin (TX) is seeking an experienced accounting professional to own end-to-end supply chain accounting tasks and drive accurate monthly closes. You will partner with finance, tax, and IT to optimize processes, assess internal controls, and deliver timely financial insights.

The role demands 5+ years in finance and accounting, a Bachelor's in accounting or related field, and strong experience with data mining tools and major financial systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 5+ years in finance/accounting roles.
  • CPA preferred and experience with Big Four or Fortune 500 clients is desirable.
  • 5+ years identifying data issues, root causes, and escalation plans.
  • 5+ years delivering financial models, analysis, and recommendations with impact.
  • Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools and financial systems.

This position will have responsibility for:

  • Supporting various aspects of our accounting and reporting process.
  • End-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners.
  • Lead delivery of accounting tasks and projects.
  • Execute judgments to keep business and accounting projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month.
  • Understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area and to design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities.
  • Escalating risks and issues as necessary to leadership.
  • Strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization.
  • Enhance partnerships between accounting and business, finance, tax, trade compliance and IT groups.
  • Research, conclude and memorialize technical accounting position papers.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

  • 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • 4+ years of transactional accounting field experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
