Job summary

Mill Creek Lumber & Supply is seeking an Accounting Manager in Tulsa to analyze and communicate financial information for sound business decisions. This is a non-supervisory role with a bonus potential of up to 10% of the annual salary.

The position focuses on month-end and year-end closes, journal entries, reconciliations, asset management, tax filings, and supporting audits. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred, with CPA highly favored.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are accurate and complete.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register and related depreciation, disposals, and subledger reconciliations.
  • Calculate and process bi-weekly commissions with data gathering and rate schedules across departments.
  • Prepare and file sales/use tax returns in multiple jurisdictions.

Mill Creek Lumber & Supply is searching for an Accounting Manager to analyze and communicate financial information to management for sound economic decision making. This is a non‑supervisory manager position and offers a bonus potential of up to 10% of their annual salary.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the monthly and annual close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are accurate and complete
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register - this includes recording monthly depreciation expense, tracking asset additions and disposals, posting related journal entries, and ensuring the subledger agrees to the general ledger monthly
  • Calculate and process bi‑weekly commissions - this includes gathering sales data, applying commission rate schedules, and coordinating with multiple departments to ensure timely and accurate disbursement
  • Complete and submit governmental and industry surveys - this includes gathering required financial and operational data, ensuring accuracy and consistency with internal records, and meeting all applicable filing deadlines
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual sales and use tax returns in multiple jurisdictions
  • Support annual audits and provide requested documentation to auditors
  • Analyzing financial reports and records
  • Reporting financial health to upper management and directors
  • Performing variance analysis and reconciling accounts
  • Monitoring internal controls
  • Implementing and enforcing best practice accounting policies and procedures
  • Reviewing journal entries for accuracy
  • Working independently and collaboratively
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting/Finance preferred)
  • 5+ years professional accounting experience
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is highly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Familiar with accounting software and programs
  • Comprehension of accounting principles and GAAP
  • Experience in reconciling accounts
  • Detail‑oriented, highly organized and efficient
  • Strong communication skills
