Job summary

Job description

Position Summary

Oversees certain functions of the Accounting department, in conjunction with the Assistant Controller, including fixed asset accounting and reporting, personal property tax accounting, sales/use tax compliance, and corporate income tax. This role supervises certain staff and/or senior accountant(s).

Essential Functions
  • Actively train, supervise, and evaluate staff/senior accountant(s) reporting to this position.
  • Monitor and analyze financial accounting data.
  • Manage and oversee fixed asset accounting and capital asset reconciliations.
  • Assist the Financial Analysis department with capital budgeting.
  • Maintain monthly personal property tax accounting, preparation and/or review of personal property tax filings with state and local tax jurisdictions, act as lead on any jurisdictional audits.
  • Prepare or review monthly and quarterly sales/use tax filings, including the processing of payments, act as lead on any jurisdictional audits.
  • Coordinate the gathering of information needed for the completion of quarterly income tax provisions and annual corporate income tax returns.
  • Preparation of annual franchise tax and annual ACA PCORI excise tax filings.
  • Other general ledger entries at month‑end closing.
  • Select balance sheet account reconciliations at month‑end closing.
  • Select expense account variance analysis at month‑end closing.
  • Prepare various financial audit schedules and analysis.
  • Cross‑train and assist with duties of other accountants.
  • Follow proper accounting procedures to reach financial objectives.
  • Work with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Promotes excellent customer service to co‑workers consistent with the NextCare Mission Statement, Vision, Values and Performance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or described in Company.
Essential Skills and Experience

Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.

Experience
  • Minimum of five years in Accounting, three or more years of work experience as Accounting or Finance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Skills
  • Strong aptitude for numbers.
  • Good analytical skills.
Valued But Not Required Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), FAS, Sage, BNA or similar fixed assets applications.
  • Health care industry experience.
